Alva's College of Nursing, Mangalore offers a complete array of nursing courses to equip students on their medical journey. To begin with, even students without scientific background can apply for the General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course of 3 years. Aditionally, students with a medicine-oriented background of PCB subjects can apply for the B.Sc Nursing Basics program. They can pursue even higher studies through the M.Sc Nursing program.

Although there is no dedicated entrance test conducted by Alva's College of Nursing itself, the college does accept applications through the state-sponsored KCET exam. The KCET is conducted annually to induct students to various graduate programs in the state of Karnataka.

Courses for nursing at CAN Mangalore are available in 4 distinct disciplines. These are Community Medicine Nursing, General Nursing & Midwifery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology Nursing, Paediatric Nursing.
Candidates may choose their preferred specialisation as per their convenience. Further, students can pursue either the general nursing programs, B.Sc programs or a Master's degree in nursing.

Candidates may explore the opportunity to apply into ACN Mangalore through the KCET common entrance test conducted by the State Government of Karnataka. Cutoff for the KCET test is released on a yearly basis and ACN Mangalore inducts students on the basis of the merit of this test.

Candidates must fulfil certain educational criteria for admissions to Alva's College of Nursing programs. For seeking admission into the General Nursing and Midwifery programs, the applicant must have passed their PUC/10+2 in any combination with compulsory English subject.
For entry into the B.Sc Nursing courses, PUC qualification with the Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) combination is a requirement. Undergraduates may pursue higher education via the M.Sc Nursing programs.
