FX School is not affiliated to any government institution. However, it is a Unity Authorized Training and Certification Partner and an academic partner of Unreal Engine as well. Unity3D (Temple Run, Battlestar Galactica Online, Deus Ex: The Fall, etc.) and Unreal Engine (Fortnight, Mass Effect, Mortal Kombat, etc.) are leading game engines used in the gaming industry.

FX School courses are Diploma and certificate courses. You will not get a degree. It is important to note that jobs in the media and entertainment industry are usually given on the basis of the quality of your portfolio or showreel. Whether you choose to do a degree or a Diploma course, the most important thing would be to build a really good showreel which will showcase your skills. Ensure that the institute you opt for is one that enables you to do that.

I would recommend you to join fine arts before getting into animation industry( this way you will be graduate as well, which will help you in your future) and from there, you will strengthen your foundation, which is main skill to survive in this field.
If going for VFX, just do some short Diploma course in arts, then take admission.
