It varies quite a bit by course and institute type. Some pilot training academies conduct their own aptitude and medical screening tests. Diploma and degree aviation courses may follow direct admission based on Class 12 marks. A few states also run centralized aviation entrance tests. So always check each specific institute's admission process rather than assuming one system fits all.

It's not a fixed single number, it depends on the license level. For a PPL, you need to accumulate a minimum of 40 to 60 hours of flying time after clearing all DGCA exams. CPL requires significantly more hours on top of that. Total hours can also depend on the specific flying school's structure. So ask each institute for their exact hour breakdown before enrolling.

Don't just trust the website claims, always verify independently. Check the official DGCA website for the updated list of approved flying schools, and ask the institute for its approval number to cross-check on the DGCA portal. Also confirm the approval and licence status is currently valid, not expired or suspended. This step can save you from wasting years and money.

Aviator and aircraft pilot are two similar terms; flight engineers are also called aviators quite often. Aviators make sure that an aircraft reaches its destination safely, navigates through the skies, and sometimes repair any minor aircraft issues. Students need to have a license to become an aviator.

There are 3 types of licenses Student Pilot License, Commercial Pilot License, and Private Pilot License. A student pilot license is the most basic pilot license and the student will not be authorised to fly anything. Students apply for private or commercial pilot licenses to fly an aircraft.
