Aviator and aircraft pilot are two similar terms; flight engineers are also called aviators quite often. Aviators make sure that an aircraft reaches its destination safely, navigates through the skies, and sometimes repair any minor aircraft issues. Students need to have a license to become an aviator.
There are 3 types of licenses Student Pilot License, Commercial Pilot License, and Private Pilot License. A student pilot license is the most basic pilot license and the student will not be authorised to fly anything. Students apply for private or commercial pilot licenses to fly an aircraft.

It depends on what candidates mean by an Aviation professional. By far the easier and better job is that of a pilot. If candidates are young (aged 12-18), it is recommended that they pursue a general course of study. Take as many Maths and Science courses as possible.
