Yes, you can expect a call from IIMs as they try to include people from different streams/ disciplines. As you are from accounts background, a good score in CAT will enhance your chances to get admission in IIMs.

Accounting Technician would be a better choice if you pursue B.Com from correspondence.
It will allow you to further pursue CA after graduation and will require a balanced effort for both.

Both courses will give you different knowledge, skills and foundation.
B.com (Bachelor of Commerce) - More into accounting skills, business studies and economic policy information
BMS (Bachelor of management studies) - Gives you knowledge about management skills, HR policy, marketing strategy and inculcate skills related to presentation and case studies.
So decide according to your career goals, calibre and interest.
