Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) Lateral Entry courses are offered by multiple universities. First of all, I need to correct you here by telling you that HBTI or Harcourt Butler Technological Institute is no longer an institute, it has separated itself from the AKTU colleges authority and is an autonomous university. Hence, Harcourt Butler Technological Institute is now known as HBTU.
In my view, National Institute of Technology, Durgapur is far better than HBTU in every aspect one can think of, be it placement, education or faculty.
HBTU has once been associated with AKTU colleges and none of the AKTU colleges could compete with even the worst of the NITs.
Even though HBTU has the potential, it has not been long since HBTI has been granted autonomy so HBTU is far behind NIT-Durgapur, even though the NIT does not make it to the top 5 NITs.
The average placement package that one can expect in NIT-Durgapur is around 6-7 LPA for branches like computer science and information technology while a package of 4.5-5 LPA for the core branches like mechanical and more.
