B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering

Well, having been a follower of the engineering college scene going on for some time in Haryana and Delhi-NCR, I feel that the “best” college really depends on the students' personality and what they precisely want to achieve after they come out of engineering.

Some students are looking for Government colleges' prestige and ROI, while some are interested in good infrastructure, exposure in the industry and specialisation in the private colleges.

There are some very good Reputed Government colleges in Haryana which are very well known among the engineering students like NIT Kurukshetra, YMCA Faridabad, DCRUST Murthal, IIIT Sonepat, MDU Rohtak.

But the private colleges/universities is another story. Some are opting for BML Munjal due to industry collaborations, some for the fact that the college is located in Gurgaon and a few for the campus exposure and student life that Amity University and SRM University offer. 

A university that I've been hearing more about recently is Geeta University, Panipat especially for Computer Science & Engineering.

My younger cousin took admission there last year, and according to him, their School of Computer Science & Engineering is focusing heavily on industry-oriented specializations rather than only traditional engineering subjects. They have dedicated track which honestly is something you don't see very often in regional private universities.These specializations are:

• AI & ML

• Cybersecurity

• Full Stack Development

• Data Science with HCL

• Quantum Computing

Another thing that stood out to me was their collaboration ecosystem. From what I've read, they have Centers of Excellence with platforms and companies like AWS, Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, GitHub and Red Hat Academy. Apparently students are encouraged to work on certifications, projects, hackathons and internships quite actively through their Geeta Technical Hub (GTH) initiative. GTH's main function is to fill the gap between Industry and Academia, they have:

• 3,000+ Global Certifications

• 150+ Projects Delivered

• Conducted 25+ Hackathons

• Secured 500+ Internships

• 100% Skill-First Mentorship

Placement-wise too, while the average package range is naturally in the normal bracket for most students, some individual outcomes have been genuinely impressive. I came across names like Vaibhav Arora securing a package around ₹1.40 crore with a US-based company, along with other students getting high-paying opportunities in firms like EY and other Big 4.

I'm not saying it has suddenly overtaken established institutions like NITs, but compared to many average private colleges, it does seem like Geeta University is trying to create a much more skill-focused environment for CSE students.

At the end though, engineering is one field where the student's own efforts matter the most. Students who continuously improve their coding skills, internships, communication and project portfolio usually perform well regardless of the college they come from.
