This is one of the most debatable questions that exists in the minds of Maharashtra engineering aspirants. Govt colleges like COEP Pune, VJTI Mumbai, ICT Mumbai etc. are as good as the best in the country with strong academics, very cheap fees, best placements.
Private and autonomous colleges are equally good in terms of modern infrastructure and industry contacts, placements and sometimes even more than the government colleges. The answer depends upon your entrance exam cutoff, eligibility, desired location and specialisation.

With a JEE Main rank of 781094 and 77 percentile in MHT CET, you can likely get into some good private engineering colleges in Maharashtra. You might not get into the top-tier government institutions.
