Ayurveda or 'Science of Life, is said to have originated in India in the pre-vedic period. Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.) is a medical degree in India, conferred to those who have studied the integrated system of modern medicine and traditional ayurveda.
The degree is of five and half years duration, including 1 year internship after passing 12th Science.
This time-tested method of maintaining health continues to be relevant even in this modern period. Nowadays Ayurveda has become very popular among the tourists especially foreigners. It is a part of a new movement towards a global medicine that includes the best developments from the whole world. As modern medicine with its strong synthetic chemical drugs fails to combat nature, there is rapid and progressive acceptance of this system. Patients from all over the world are coming to India for Ayurveda treatment. The number of Pharmaceutical companies manufacturing Ayurvedic medicines is increasing and the medicines are getting popular even in other countries. More and more 'Pancha Karma Centres' are coming up for serving the tourists especially foreigners.
With the popularity of the system the demand for Ayurvedic doctors are on the rise. Once you have passed BAMS, you can apply for post graduate programmes. The Post graduate programmes are conducted by many recognised institutions and have duration of 3 years leading to degrees of Doctor of Medicine in Ayurveda (M.D. (Ayu)) and Master of Surgery in Ayurveda (M.S. (Ayu)). Post-graduate programs are structured into 16 branches leading to a Doctorate in Ayurveda.

There is good scope in every field. Please remember that you should pursue a stream based on two things :
-your career goal
-the type of job you want to do
Find below few job avenues open in the respective fields :
1) BHMS :
After the course completion, you may find employment as :
-Homeopathic practitioner in both India and abroad.
-Medical representative at a private or government hospital.
-Professor or a researcher in any homeopathic college.
-You may start personal clinic.
-You may setup retail shop of homeopathy medicines.
-You may work in industries dealing with homeopathic preparations.
-You may start your own pharmacy.
-You may work in public and private sector.
-You may work in private or government hospitals, clinics, NGOs, etc.
2) BAMS :
As for the jobs, alternative medicine practitioners have lots of scope in medical field such as counseling, mental or physical therapy, healthcare department, naturopathic doctor, etc. Professional in this field gets training and motivation to develop their knowledge.
For some career in this field may need additional knowledge, certification and education.
A graduate in alternative medicine can seek career option in following areas such as researcher, practitioners in Ayurvedic & homeopathic, hospitals, dispensaries and in government sectors.
For private practitioners in above fields get the initial salary range of Rs 8,000.
A graduate student working with a trained practitioner or in clinic could help them to gain the confidence and revenue.
In research institutions and in Drug and pharmaceutical companies employ research scientists and consultants in order to work in this field.
Post-graduates students can also opt for teaching jobs in universities and colleges.
One may find employment as :
-Masseuse
-Wellness counselor
-Acupuncturist
-Chiropractor
-Naturopathologist

To take admission in MBBS :
-You must have passed 12th in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with 60% .
-You should have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st day of December of the year of admission.
-You need to sit for entrance exams such as AIIMS, AIPMT, AFMC etc.
2)

Priti ,In order to take admission in BAMS ,candidate must be passed out in 12th science stream form recognized board.
your subjects in 12th should be physics,chemistry and biology.
Here the list of entrance exams in which you can appear for taking admission in this course are.
1-CBSE NEET.
2-AIIMS.
3-PGMIER.
4-PHT
5-JCECE.
In order to appear in this exam, your minimum marks should be 50%.
If you belong from the SC/ST/OBC then your minimum marks should be 40%.
Questions in these exams will be asked from
physics
chemistry
Biology (botany + zoology).
The course which you can opt after getting pass in this entrance exams are:-
1-Diploma in Ayurvedic Pharmacy
2-Diploma in Ayurvedic Knowledge.
