I'll tell you what I did as a 1st year BCA student. If you like, then you can follow up on that. Attend every lecture, BCA is such an easy course that if you attend your lectures regularly on daily basis and pay full attention, then you don't even need to go for tuitions or put in extra time in studying the same thing, and still you'll be able to secure good marks. So, don't skip lectures. Start learning new skills and courses which aren't covered in your BCA like website, game, application development, hacking, digital marketing or any other skill that interests you. It'll take time to learn these skills, but eventually it'll pay off in future. Learn and master at least one Programming Language every year, which isn't covered in your BCA course. So, by the end of your BCA course you'll be able to code in at least 67 different programming languages. Prepare for internships, internships will play a huge role in your selection process. So, securing an internship in a good company is crucial but getting a paid-internship is not that easy. There will be huge competition for internships too and companies demand a lot of skills from interns too, so make sure that along with your academics you are also developing your personality, communication skills, technically sound etc. These were the things which I followed in my 1st Year.
