Bioinformatics

Bioinformatics is the application of computer technology to get the information that's stored in certain types of biological data. Bioinformatics provides central, globally accessible databases that enable scientists to submit, search and analyse information. It offers analysis software for data studies and comparisons and provides tools for modelling, visualizing, exploring and interpreting data. Main goal is to convert multitude of complex data into useful information and knowledge. What is the scope? Current biological and medical labs use methods that produce extremely large data sets, which cannot be analyzed by hand - for instance sequencing human genomes. Thus modern biological and medical research and development cannot be done without bioinformatics. Future applications in biology, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, medicine, and agriculture. In addition, bioinformatics plays an important role in biomedical research. Research work in the area of genetic diseases and medical genomics is rapidly increasing and the future of personalized medicine depends on bioinformatics approaches.

The admissions will happen under two streams.
Stream 1: 70% of seats through JEE (Mains) score and +2 score.
25% and 75% of weightage will be given to JEE score and +2 marks under this stream. Your +2 marks will be normalized with that of the first rank student's marks in your board. You will be ranked with respect to the combined score of your JEE (Mains) and +2 marks. Your rank will be determined by the combined scores of all other applicants. Stream 2: 30% of seats through +2 marks. You will be ranked according to the normalized percentage of your +2 marks with other applicants under this stream.
Admissions under the two streams will happen according to your rank. You can apply under both the streams.
