Yes, your degree is valid. It does not matter how old your degree is, it's always valid unless and until the institute from which you have done gets dissolved.

Candidates always get confused to choose the appropriate subject for appearing in NET (National Eligibility Test). As you have completed postgraduation in Bioinformatics than it will be beneficial for you to appear in CSIR NET Exam in Life Science. CSIR NET (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research - National Eligibility Test) is the national level eligibility test for all the Science stream aspirants. To know more visit here - https://www.eduncle.com/csir-net-exam. The CSIR NET 2018 Exam is going to be held on 16th December 2018. Hello,GATE is necessary for pursuing M.Tech, if you aspire to get admission in esteemed college. But, still few colleges offer their own entrance exam.

M.Sc. Bioinformatics: Eligibility
As a minimum criterion of eligibility, aspiring candidates need to have completed graduation with a minimum aggregate score of 50% in any of the following:
B.Sc. / B. Pharma/ BHMS/ BDS/ BAMS/ MBBS
B.E. In Computer Science
B.Tech. In Information Technology/ Biomedical Engineering
Often, candidates are required to qualify an institute, State or national-level entrance test for admission to the course. Thanks!

You shall look for the industry which works in advance bioinformatics like GSK, abort, dental and surgery agency where in there is a gap of software integration with the infrastructure and thus you would successfully fit in the system having knowledge of both trade.
