Admission to the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) can be competitive, depending on the program. BCIT is well-known for its hands-on, practical approach to teaching and extensive industry links. Admissions requirements often include a strong academic record, specified course prerequisites, and, in some cases, relevant professional experience or a portfolio. International students must also demonstrate English ability through exams such as IELTS or TOEFL. While the admissions process is difficult, achieving these standards and displaying a strong commitment to the selected field will improve your chances of admission.

Both UBC and BCIT are top choices for Computer Science in Canada. As to which is better between them depends on what a student's budget and interests. Students interested in a more reputed degree and better networking opportunities, should ideally opt for UBC.

For a more affordable CS degree and a decent future career in the IT industry, BCIT is perfectly fine.
