Admission to the BTech programme at IIT Kanpur is entrance exam-based, i.e., based on JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced scores. Candidates seeking admission to BTech can not get admission to IIT Kanpur with only the scores of JEE Main. JEE Advanced followed by JoSAA counselling is the final selection criteria followed by the institute. SKCT BE/BTech seats are allocated is facilitated through the TNEA counselling process. Thus, students must register and apply for the TNEA counselling process. After registration, the official authorities release a merit/ rank list based on students’ scores in Maths, Physics, and Chemistry. Further, students are required to take part in counselling process. Seats are allocated based on students’ rank and the institute’s intake.

As per the SKCET BE/BTech cutoff 2023, the closing rank for the General All India category stood at 17087. Moreover, during 2023 counselling, BTech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science emerged as the most competitive specialisation with a cutoff of 12945. The TNEA counselling round for this year is ecxpected to start in the month of July. Students must keep visiting the official website of TNEA to stay updated.
