The popular programmes offered at Calicut University are BTech and BSc. BTech students can become Mechanical Engineers, Software Engineers, Civil Engineers, and others after completing graduation from Calicut University. Calicut University is ranked 89 by the NIRF 2024 under the University category. National Institutional Ranking Framework only ranks those colleges or universities that are good. The university or a college must fulfill the basic eligibility criteria to secure a good ranking in its various categories.

Calicut University offers distance education to students through its School of Distance Education. Formerly known as the Institute of Correspondence Courses and Continuing Education, the School of Distance Education, Calicut University was established in 1981-82.
