The cheapest way to get from Thrissur to University of Calicut is to train which takes 2h13m and costs Rs.650-Rs1,400. Alternatively, you can take bus, which costs Rs.1,000-Rs1,400 and takes 2h 33m. But the buses are more frequent, and you can get down right at the University Bus Stop and walk to the Campus. On a good day, with minimal traffic and good roads, it might take around 3-4 Hours (depending upon the speed of the bus). Trains are less frequent. There might be delays. One has to get down either at Parappanangadi, or at Calicut, and then take a bus to the University. (Train Tickets cost Rs 50 for Express trains, 65 for Superfast

For admission to this programme, you've to give an entrance test, PGCAP. Admission will be based on the merit marks scored in that entrance test and Merit marks in graduation. The cutoff for Applied Chemistry in that exam is not yet released, but it will be posted as soon as any news is released by the authorities. Whereas the eligibility on merit based criteria is: BSc degree of this university with Chemistry/ Industrial Chemistry/ Polymer Chemistry (main) or equivalent degree with Mathematics as one of its subsidiaries with at least 50% aggregate (45% aggregate for OBC/ OEC and a mere pass for SC/ ST) or equivalent CGPA.
