The minimum eligibility criteria to become a lecturer is having a Master's degree. There are many colleges that do not require any certification for teaching and selects the candidates on the basis of their graduation. But as per the rules, you have to clear an eligibility test to become a lecturer in colleges and institutes. For lectureship, there is UGC NET Exam which is a National Level Eligibility. So, if you want to become a lecturer then appear in the UGC NET Exam and qualify it. Those who clear the NET Exam will get a certificate that can be used to apply in any colleges and institutes for lectureship (Assistant Professor). Those who fulfil this criterion will only eligible for the exam. The exam is conducted by NTA twice a year. You can pursue Ph.D. after completing the tenure of JRF and submitting your project.
