Career in IT is considered one of the highest paying jobs and is full of opportunities; particularly when India's proves in Information Technology industry is recognized across the globe. The pool of talented computer engineers working in IT companies of the USA and Canada shows that IT can take a person to higher levels. Numerous IT companies from India employ huge numbers of computer professionals in their Indian and Overseas offices. Pre-Requisites:
A BE/B.Tech or BCA/MCA become an IT engineer. And a person requires +2 with mathematics to pursue B.Tech or BCA. Others without mathematics too can do various short term certification and Diploma courses in various small packages. However, there is a stringent selection procedure at place for computer engineer wherein admission to the BE /B.Tech courses is extremely competitive. Mathematics is a universal subject. If you choose to pursue a B.Sc in Mathematics, there will be a lot many options that you will be able to choose from. You can work in different areas such as:
- Mathematician - You can choose to pursue research (become a scientist) in your area of interest in Maths. And, if you choose to research, you can go into the teaching sector also. Check out institutes like TIFR Mumbai, IMSc Chennai, Harish Chandra Research Institute Allahabad. - Chartered Accountancy - If you like auditing, taxes, and accounting, you can think of preparing for CA too. - Banking - Banking is another sector that you can get into with Mathematics. - Actuarial Sciences - If you love data and Maths, actuarial sciences would be a great field for it. - Data Analysis/Operations Analysis/Project Development - If you want to work in the private sector, you can look at these profiles. - Military Operations - Mathematics degree would also allow you to work in the military sector, scientists are always required to work with military and development (DRDO, ISRO, NAL, SETS, etc.). 2. Higher Studies:-
Here 3 different routes are available like post-graduation, management and study abroad.
I. Post-Graduation (M.Sc. -IT/ MCA)
In Post-graduation, a B.Sc. IT graduate can do a M.Sc in the same field or a MCA. Now, Job-wise M.Sc is preferred by people who want to go into the research or the teaching field. MCA is for people who want to become programmers and all those high paying jobs. The MCA is a 3 year course while the M.Sc is a 2 year course.
II. Master of Business Administration MBA
Now, one can do MBA even after Post graduate degree but doing it right after your Bachelors will give you a great edge and catapult you to a high paying job of a manager much Faster. To do MBA in India the student has to appear for the exams like CAT, MH-CET, CMAT, XAT, SNAP, NMAT, etc.
III. Study abroad for MS or MBA
If studying abroad is an option for you then preferable options are either UK or USA as they are the best in the IT field and offer the highest salaries too! US need 16 years education while UK allows 15 years. Now a B.Sc. IT graduate will have completed 15 years of education so his only option is UK where the MS that is Master of Science in IT which is equivalent to Post graduate degree in engineering is only of a year. But, if you are keen on doing your MS IT in USA then you will have to do a small 1 year Diploma in any field so as to complete the 16 years of education and then apply for the colleges. So, take GRE (MS) or GMAT (MBA) Exam and then TOEFL, IELTS, etc. exam, score good marks and go abroad.
3. Other Certification Courses after B.Sc IT:-
A variety of certification courses are available for aspirants who have finished their Bachelor's degree in IT. A few of them comprise of:
