Yes, the CBSE board provide you a checking on the basis of step marking.
If your first step is correct and solution is wrong, then also, you get marks of first correct step but if your starting step is wrong and rest, solution is correct, then you get no marks.

If you apply by general quota, then you can get admission but it will be really difficult for you to find a good college which will have vacancy. There is one option that is management quota.

You don't need to opt for CAT exam if you want to study law further. After completion of 12th, if you are thinking for law, you may take admission in law school or private university for integrated course BALLB/BBA LLB. It depends that you are want a top law school then you need to sit for CLAT which will be conducted in the month of May. Apply for it and start preparing now to get into National Law University. If you pass in the next compartment, you will be shown as passed in 2018. For information regarding the next Compartment exam please stay in contact with your college or school. They will be able to help you better. Also keep checking the CBSE's website regularly for notifications.

CBSE or Central Board of Secondary Education organizes improvement exams for the candidates who want to do better on the exams. Improvement exams are conducted every year after the declaration of result of regular exams conducted by CBSE. Candidates can opt even for improvement of one exam; however, it is apt to opt all the five subjects for improvement exam.

If you fail in one of the two subjects of your CBSE improvement exams, then in result, it show as Daily and other subjects' result will be same as whatever you scored. Hope you got your answer.
