CCNA Scope

The scope of CCNA R&S Course in India is dependent upon the track of CCNA Cert you choose. The scope of CCNA certification is quite more than that of CCNA R&S as the security of data is the most important concern for every organization. However, there is not much scope for other CCNA tracks such as Wireless, Cloud etc. in India. However, even if you want to prepare for any Cisco certification like CCNA Security or CCNP or CCNP Security, you will anyhow have to prepare for CCNA first. So CCNA is pre-requisite for all other Cisco courses.
Well coming up to developers, it depends, what kind of Project is the Developer working on, or what he/she aspires for the Future. Having an additional qualification never hurts, only helps at times.
AFAIK, Software Engineers are recruited in major IT MNCs based on their Analytical Ability, Problem-Solving Tactics, knowledge of various Programming Tools & Technologies, Platforms, Debugging etc. skills. I'm not sure where CCNA would fit in.
Besides, CCNA is more into basic Networking the way Cisco delivers it via their own devices. As a Software Engineer if you are trying to get a hang of core Networking, I'd say stick to Andrew Tannenbaum, or Douglas Comer, W. Richard Stevens, etc. kind of great folks.

CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) is a category of technical certifications offered by Cisco for early-career networking professionals. The CCNA is the second level of accreditation, one step above Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) and directly below the CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional). Cisco offers five Cisco Career Certification programs and levels of accreditation: Entry, Associate, Professional, Expert and Architect.
There is always a shortage of good network engineers.
having certifications line CCNA or CCNP will enhance your chance to get a job in the field of IT Infrastructure.
Having only a certification will not help, you should also have good knowledge.
CCNA is the first step in Cisco Certifications & it doesn't have any prerequisites.
A person from both technical & non-technical background can take up the exam.
With this certification, you get a knowledge on both Cisco specific networking & generic networking.
Since these certifications are widely recognized across the world, this will definitely add a weight to your resume.
Doing these courses or certification for the sake of certificate is worthless. Do it for knowledge purpose. Certificates will expire but not knowledge.
Aim for next level certifications like CCNP & CCIE, in a present scenario having only CCNA is not advised.
Cisco has introduced many other verticals in their certification, example:
Security, Voice, Wireless, Data center, etc.
Routing & Switching certification there from the beginning & its evergreen. Once you finish routing & switching, you may choose the vertical that interests you more, though it is not compulsory to have CCNA routing & switching certification to pursue other certifications, it is advised to undergo the training on routing & switching.
