CMAT Scores

There is no minimum score percentage criteria in graduation for CMAT exam. Only passing marks is required. The national level entrance exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency for the AICTE. The role of NTA starts from framing exam pattern to registrations and ends with result announcement. After that, MBA colleges which accept CMAT score for shortlisting students start the selection process. There are about 1,300 MBA colleges in India which accept CMAT score for admission. All these colleges conduct admissions individually which includes, shortlisting of students on the basis of CMAT score, conduct of group discussion, written ability test and Personal Interview and final selection based on certain parameters. Some common parameters for admission through CMAT include:
1. CMAT score
2. Class 10 and 12 scores
3. Graduation scores
4. Performance in group discussion and personal interview
5. Work experience (if any)
Final selection of candidates is based on these parameters. The admission cycle and application schedule of the CMAT accepting colleges can be different so aspirants are required to check admission related notification of the colleges regularly.

Ideally, one might consider a percentile range of 99-100 as favorable for MBA admission. However, achieving such high percentiles may not be feasible for all candidates. Therefore, determining what constitutes a good score in CMAT is crucial. A good CMAT score essentially ensures admission to the desired college.

If aspiring for a Tier 1 college, a good CMAT score would be 85 percentile and above. For a Tier 2 college, a score between 70-85 percentile is considered good, while for a Tier 3 college, a score below 70 percentile is acceptable.

To understand CMAT scores in terms of percentiles and to gauge how much raw score is required to attain the desired percentile for a particular college during the exam, it's important to be aware of the score-to-percentile conversion. Here's a breakdown:

• A score of about 340-350 is equivalent to 100 percentile in CMAT.
• A score in the range of 281-340 corresponds to 90-99.99 percentile in CMAT.
• A score between 201-280 is equivalent to 81-89 percentile in CMAT.
• A score ranging from 171-200 corresponds to 71-80 percentile in CMAT.
• A score of approximately 140-171 is equal to 61-70 percentile in CMAT.
• A score between 116-140 is equivalent to 51-60 percentile in CMAT.

There is no centralised process of counselling on national level for CMAT Entrance Examination.

CMAT is a national level entrance examination for students wanting to pursue Management Programs. The conducting body for the examination is National Testing Agency ( NTA).

After the examination, NTA no longer participates in the counselling process, counselling is in hands of the respective educational institutes who offer Masters programs to the students. 

To enroll for the counselling process, students are advised  to refer to the respective educational institutes that accepts CMAT Examination Score for Management programs in their institutes.
