Colgate's liberal arts curriculum introduces students to the power of rigorous discourse, intellectual curiosity, and the energetic pursuit of knowledge. The university offers 56 Bachelor of Arts degree programs including major and minor subjects divided among 40 departments that are housed within four academic divisions, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences and University Studies. Colgate boasts of meeting 100% of every international student's demonstrated financial need. Prospective students are considered for Colgate's need-based aid only when they apply for financial aid before an admission decision is made. The financial aid awards are based on a student's need and typically include a grant, loan, and work-study. However, international applicants are not eligible for federal or state awards, grants, and loans. Here are some of the scholarships and awards that international applicants can avail:

• Athletic Scholarship: It is a merit-based award provided to student-athletes playing certain sports. The Colgate University coaches for different sports determine the recipients of this scholarship.
• Federal Pell Grant: This is a federally-funded grant, and only eligible non-US citizens can apply for this grant. If the awards received are greater than the estimated number, it will result in a reduction in the Colgate Grant.
• Outside Awards: Outside awards are awarded to students in line with a merit-based selection process. The financial aid provided by these outside awards and Colgate grants should not exceed the annual cost of tuition and attendance.

Located in Hamilton, New York, Colgate University is situated in a rural area with a population that equals the institution's student body. It is mainly an undergraduate degree-offering institution with a small MA Teaching programme delivered by four major academic divisions. Some good reasons to apply at Colgate University are:

Along with on-campus employment provided by the university to students who need it, students can also choose to work part-time. According to law, those who hold a US student visa can work up to 20 hours a week when school is in session and 40 hours per week during school breaks. Off-campus work is defined as work undertaken at a location affiliated with the school. Thus, students can work at the university bookstore, cafeteria, and other facilities where students are allowed to help.

To get an off-campus or on-campus job, students will need to apply at least 30 days before classes begin. They will need to talk to the DSO to apply and get a letter of approval. 

Visa rules: Students who fall under the F1 visa category and have completed at least one full academic year of their current programme of study can work off-campus as well. They will need to ensure that their economic hardship qualifies according to the rules and regulations of the Department of Homeland Security.
