Yes, entrance exam is required for admission in Panjab University. The final selection is based on entrance scores . The university accepts PU CET, PU MET, JEE Main, GATE, CAT, etc. However, merit is also considered for admission in some courses.

Panjab University Chandigarh admission 2026 is based on the entrance examination and merit. The final selection is based on PUMET, PU-CET (UG), PU-CET (PG), PU PGLAW, PUTHAT, PULEET, MBAUSOL, PU UGLAW, PU MPhil, and PhD Entrance Test. Merit is also considered for admission in some courses. According to media reports, the highest and average package secured by the overall Class of 2025 was INR 24.73 LPA and INR 8.5 LPA. The institute has placed 78.4% students of batch 2025.
