Students have to present some documents during IIT Madras admissions for verification purposes. A list of important documents is as below:

  • First and last pages of Aadhaar Card/ Voter ID Card/ Passport

Yes, COAP registration is mandatory for IIT Madras admissions done on the basis of GATE exam. The institute accepts GATE + COAP for both M.Tech and MA admissions. Any student choosing to register via GATE score at the institute must register on COAP portal as well.

At IIT Madras, students are mainly selected on an entrance basis only. For courses, such as BTech and MTech, students also need to participate in the counselling process. Check below the IIT Madras selection criteria for popular courses:

  • BTech = JEE Mains + JEE Advanced + JoSAA Counselling
  • MTech = GATE + COAP
  • MSc = IIT JAM
  • MBA = CAT + Interview

IIT Madras eligibility for each course-level is different. Students need to meet the basic admission requirements to get a seat at IIT Madras. The basic eligibility requirements for IIT Madras programmes are as below:

  • For IIT Madras UG Engineering courses - Class 12 with a minimum aggregate of 75% and Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects
  • For IIT Madras PG courses - Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. The minimum marks may vary depending on the course.

Yes, IIT Madras MBA admissions are open now. The institute is accepting online applications for its MBA course through the DoMS admission portal. Students must apply before the last date of application.

Government Colleges: INR 30,000 - INR 11 lakh

Private Colleges: INR 90,000 - INR 40 lakh

The placements are ongoing at Rajalakshmi Engineering College for the batch 2025. As of now,  268 recruiters visited the campus in 2025 and presented 1941 job offers to the students. Earlier, 268 recruiters visited in 2024 and offered 1570 offers.
