As of February 2025, students who have finished their first year at another university are not eligible for lateral entrance into the second year of the Indira Gandhi National Open University's (IGNOU) Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) program. Generally speaking IGNOU's lateral entry policies are restricted to particular programs. For example, individuals with an IGNOU Diploma in Retailing (DIR) can enroll straight in the second year of the Bachelor of Business Administration (Retailing) program.

The main channel for programme entry is this standardized test. However, there might be an option to get direct admission to some seats in the MA programme for specific specializations; these seats are usually reserved for candidates who completed their undergraduate education at Delhi University.
