It depends on how you perform in XAT and then in GD-PI. What matters is your knowledge of the respective field, not the college you studied in.

Hi Abhishek,
First of all, I want to tell you that for taking admission in a government college like IIT & NIT or State-funded university, you must have given Joint Entrance Exam. I hope this year you have already given this exam and got your result last month. So wait till the counselling round starts and apply for your choices. If you have not given JEE 2018, take JEE-2019.

Both Food processing and industrial design are different. So it solely depend on you that if you are interested to know the techniques behind food processing as well as gain knowledge for it then just move on for food processing engineering in NIT Rourkela. Electronics from NIT (J). Look, first of all NIT has more reputation than thapar. Though Teaching of thapar is more better than NIT, but Thapar's standard is decreasing day by day. Plus, fees gap between two is so high!
I would suggest, NITJ.

Sorry to say but you still have 0.6% less marks than required. Try if you can send it for reevaluation or if something can be done regarding that. Best of luck.
