The general percentile of an individual in JEE Main is not usually enough to get admission into IIT Bombay i.e. 85 percentile. General category candidates are usually required to score at least 93 percentile marks in JEE Main to even be able to sit in JEE Advanced which is the only entrance exam to IITs. Moreover, at IIT Bombay, obtaining a place particularly in popular departments such as Computer Science, a very high JEE Advanced score is needed, of the order of the few hundreds (earlier below AIR 70 in Computer Science in recent years). Although 85 percentile may squeeze you into JEE Advanced in certain backward classes lists.
