MTech fees at NIT Nagaland is around INR 5 lakh. The fee structure is cumulative of multiple components, such as tuition fee, hostel fee, medical insurance, mess and other security deposits, etc. Out of all these fee components, there are a few components that are charged one-time by NIT Nagaland. 

NIT Nagaland has a sanction of around 200 seats for admission in BTech programme. For admission at MSc, NIT Nagaland offers 20 seats with two specialisations and 2 years of course duration. The Institute offers 66 seats for admission at MTech including the 4 specialisations within the programme. The Institute also offers PhD in various specialisations along side the UG and PG level programmes. 

NIT Nagaland offers specialisations in UG, PG and PhD level. Programmes such as Mechanical Engineering, CSE, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and more are offered in full-time mode on the basis of merit and entrance. Candidates qualifying the entrance exams and securing scores within the cutoff limit are shortlisted for further consideration. For NIT Nagaland BTech, candidates must secure a 75% in Class 12. Whereas, for courses such as MSc and MTech, candidates must secure 60% in graduation. NIT Nagaland considers JEE Main, IIT JAM, CCMN, GATE, CCMT, UGC NET etc. to shortlist candidates for admission.

NIT Nagaland recorded the highest placement in the Engineering sector. Apart from this, NIT Nagaland has students placed in the sector of Education, Information Technology, Business Development, Research, Administrative etc. Majority of the students within these records are known to study Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering. Several graduates started working with NIT, Deloitte, Tata Consultancy Services, Capgemini etc. 

NIT Nagaland organises various events that are technically advanced or cultural in nature. These events also takes care of cultural inclusivity and the diverse nature of the curriculum. The overall vibe of NIT Nagaland is somewhere around relaxed and competitive. Events such as fresher'day, farewells, fests etc. are a part of the Institute curriculum that occurs every year. Technical events organised by various department student body such as workshops, seminars, lectures, competitions etc. are the rest few thatthe Institute facilitates. 

NIT Nagaland can be considered as one of the top tier institutes offering specialisation in Engineering. It holds the prestige of National Institute of Technology and approval among 10 newly launched NITs. The Institute is approved by AICTE and is ranked within the rank-band of 150-200 in the Engineering category. The Institute provides placement support and provides various scholarship to seek relaxation during the admissions.

National Institute of Technology Nagaland was established in year 2010 as one of the 10 newly approved NITs by the Government of India in 2009. The Institute operated for initial 2 years from the campus of NIT Silchar and held its first academic session from the permanent campus of NIT Nagaland in January 2012. NIT Nagaland does not have any branch, however, it is a part of National Institute of Technology which has gained recognition in the name of 'National Importance'.
