In order to work while studying in WNEU, international students must follow the eligibility criteria listed below:

  • The job must be on-campus and students can only work a maximum of 20 hours per week (unless it is a school break);
  • Have a Social Security Number;
  • Must complete I-9 paperwork with Human Resources.

Exchange Students will need employment authorization from ISSS. Authorization is employer-specific; if there is a change in the employment (including position, hiring unit, or number of hours per week), a new authorization is required. Employment authorization is valid for a maximum of one year.

However, WNEU urges international candidates to apply as early as possible in relation to the anticipated start date, to ensure sufficient time to process all of the necessary paperwork for purposes of a student visa. At Western New England University, admission decisions are typically released within three weeks of the candidate's application being complete.
