Students in their final year may also apply on a provisional basis.

Candidates who are willing to take admission in the B.Tech programme of the HIMT college first needs to appear in the  IMU-CET (Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test) entrance exam. It is a national-level common entrance test for admission to BSc, BTech, UG Diploma, MTech, MBA, PhD courses offered at IMU campuses conducted by Indian Maritime University. The candidates who clear the entrance exam are called for their psychometric test, medical examination followed by panel interview and pre-sea training. Only after clearing all these stages, the candidate is eligible to take admission in HIMT college.
