You should go for your interest because it is you who is going to do engineering. But placements of petroleum are quite good in comparison to CSE.
But it is a waste if you are not enjoying what you are doing.

I will prefer UPES.
I didn't give the exam for IPU. I preferred UPES over IPU because placements are very good in UPES in comparison to IPU (in my knowledge).

I don't have much idea about LAW in Amity Noida. But in UPES study pattern is quite good. I can't say much about the placements. Some students get good placements some go to reputated law firm with low packages.

It is on rank 3rd for petroleum engineering all over India. In terms of placements, petrology gets the highest placements here.
For CS, there are 17 specialisations you can choose.
CS branches also gets good placements. Top recruiters are IBM, LNT, Microsoft, VMware, Dell, etc.
The highest package for petroleum was around 27 LPA last year. And it was 17 or 18 LPA for CS.

Among these colleges I will prefer UPES for you in terms of placements and study. You can check placements on their official websites.

I don't have any idea about IPU.
If your son has 112 marks in JEE having general category, then he might not get any good NITs easily.
He can go for other private colleges.

Counselling is starting from 31 may. So there are very less chances that you will get petroleum branch. There are only 20-25% chances for getting petroleum engineering. But you can try for it.

Government colleges have more reputation than private colleges. But if you are looking for good placement, then some government colleges don't provide good placements (not all of them).
And there is also mass recruitment in all colleges. So you have to be unique if you want a good package. UPES provides good placements. But mass recruitment is also present in UPES.
VM provided more than 15 LPA. Microsoft gave an offer of 11 LPA.
