Dear Ujjwal,
DIT is better but then you should check other good universities that have been highly ranked by MHRD. Check some of the good private universities like LPU, SRM, VIT, etc., that have good a very good ranking and are offering various specializations in B.Tech including CSE. They have their different criteria for admissions. Some offer admission on basis of JEE scores, some offer admission on basis of their own tests and some offer admission on the basis of both. Some even offer direct admission on basis of your marks in class 12. Some of the universities also offer scholarships on basis of your performance in class 12 or JEE

Hello ASD,
Yes, you can get admission in GB Pant University after clearing JEE mains exam. Your rank should be in the range of 50k to 80k. For CS branch, your rank should be in the range of 50k to 60k.
After this, you have to apply for the UTU state counselling and then if the seat is allotted to you in that then you have to report to the college within the given period of time.

If you are SC/ST/NT/OBC, you are luckier, you can get admission with 52% marks.
The case for Bachelors in Arts is opposite. It never went down below 75%, at least not in 2012.
This maybe primarily because, prospective engineers apply for a B.Sc course, in case they don't get a good college.

Now, you have to do all India counselling.
Or, wait for state counselling in Uttrakhand. It will probably start from 15th of July.
