There is only one NID DAT entry exam held each year. DAT Prelims and DAT Mains are the two sub-exams for the exam. Based on their DAT Prelim results, candidates are selected for the DAT Mains exam. The DAT preliminary exam takes place in late December or early January. The NID DAT 2024 scores will be taken into account for determining admission to the B.Des and M.Des programmes that participating NIDs offer.

On April 28, 2024, the National Institute of Design (NID) held the Studio Test for the B. Des programme. There was no online version of the Studio Test. It should be noted that, in contrast to M.Des applicants, B. Des candidates are not obliged to attend any interviews. On April 15, 2024, admit cards for the Studio Test became available. The candidate was required to bring their valid photo ID and their admit card to the exam centre on the day of the studio test. The second part of the two-stage NID entrance procedure is the Studio Test, also known as the Mains. The candidate's performance in the DAT Mains and DAT Prelims is taken in

The best amount of time for a candidate to prepare for the NID DAT 2024 exam would be about six months. This amount of time will enable the candidate to thoroughly cover every subject and efficiently be ready for the test. Even so, a candidate can still study for the test in three months or fewer provided they possess a firm grasp of the principles and foundational ideas. However, as the amount of time decreases, one will need to be more careful and economical with each day and hour. It will be beneficial to have a clear schedule in place. The schedule may include items such as daily reading and revision assignments, sample papers to b

The results of the DAT Prelims will include the qualifying status of the candidate. If the candidate fails to qualify DAT Prelims, he or she will not be eligible to appear in DAT Mains.

Note that the Desing Aptitude Test (DAT) conducted by the National Institute of Design (NID) has two sub-exams: DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.

Both the exams are mandatory.

Also, the final merit list is prepared by giving weighatage to DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. So, if a can candidate fails to qualify DAT Prelims or doesn’t appear in DAT Mains, the candidate will be disqualified from the admission process.

The qualifying status of the candidate was disclosed in the DAT Prelim findings. The candidate was ineligible to participate in the DAT Mains if they had not qualified in the DAT Prelims. It should be noted that there are two sub-exams for the National Institute of Design's (NID) Desing Aptitude Test (DAT): DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. It is required to take both tests. Additionally, the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains are weighed in order to generate the final merit list. Therefore, an applicant will be eliminated from consideration for admission if they do not pass DAT Prelims or do not show up for DAT Mains.
