PHASE 1: MIT DAT (Design Aptitude Test)
RephraseThe MIT DAT serves as a common entrance exam for admissions to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Master of Design (M.Des) programs at three institutions: MIT Institute of Design Pune, Avantika University Ujjain, and MIT University Shillong. It is conducted at multiple centers nationwide. Candidates can refer to the "List of Test Centers" for more details; however, please note that MITID reserves the right to modify or cancel these centers. Following the evaluation of DAT scores, shortlisted candidates will proceed to the second phase.
PHASE 2: Studio Test and Personal Interview
Studio Test and Personal Interview are conducted at the MITID campus in Pune. The admission procedure consists of two phases. In the second phase, candidates will undergo studio tests followed by personal interviews at the Institute in Pune. The results for shortlisted candidates will be announced on the MITID website. Shortlisted candidates will not receive separate call letters but are required to attend the studio tests and interview as it completes the selection process. The procedures, grades, and weightage for selection are decided by the Admission Committee each year. The norms for selection rest solely with them, and their decisions regarding matters related to admission process and selection are final.
To apply for BDes in MIT Institute of Design candidates are required to appear in the Institute based entrance exam MIT DAT (MIT Design Aptitude Test). Intially candidates are required to fill the online apllication form for MIT DAT and upload all the required documents. Candidates will receive the admit card online. After the exam candiates will be summoned for the personal interview followed by studio test.
There is no such provision for direct admission to any of the courses offered at MIT Institute of Design (MITID). Candidates interested in taking admission at MITID must take the institute’s entrance exam, i.e. Design Aptitude Test (DAT) on the basis of which candidates will be selected for the Studio test and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. On successful qualifying in both these rounds, candidates will be required to report to the admission cell at MITID for document verification and tuition fee payment for final seat allotment.
