The college placements as far as internships are concerned weren't great. Getting a stipend is tough, considering the field is such. Working under stylists, art directors, or photographers does not pay much. The internships range from pro-bono to 15,000 a month. One internship is compulsory after the third year. There are brands like Shopperstop and HUL offering a 4-Lacs package with a one year lock-in for visual merchandising. The highest package offered was 6 Lacs. And the starting salary at a fashion house as a graphic designer paid 30,000 in hand.

The cutoff rank generally stands at 200-250 for OBC category for B.Tech in fashion designing at NIFT, Delhi campus. Hence chances seem mediocre here. However, you can get Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai and Gandhinagar campuses into B.Tech Fashion designing with OBC Category.

Bachelor of Design (B.Des) is an undergraduate academic degree programme. There are various streams in B.Des for example - apparel, fashion and gadget. If you want to go for a course which is more industry oriented, then go for something like product designing or transportation designing. The scope of B.Des is not poor. It is a good course and I think it you have lot of opportunity after completing B.Des in almost all design companies like other professions. I hope will get a wonderful job after the course.
