It is valuable but first, you need to decide why you want to pursue this course. However, this course is new to India and every industry needs a product designer to design the product for them. As I know it is a very new field of learning in India, where in past people learnt a little bit about some software and was doing product designing, but time has changed and as we are developing and creating new industries we will need product designer. Symbiosis International University conducts Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design SEED in order to offer admissions to aspirants in B.Des programmes offered at Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID). NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2018 for B. Des (Fashion Design/Leather Design/Accessory Design/Textile Design/Knitwear Design/Fashion Communication):
The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognised Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education/State Board New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi.
So you cannot apply for NIFT entrance exam. You need to clear your 12th standard to be eligible to apply for the exam.
