Sir, the National Institute of Design does not have preferred NRI quota seats. Instead, it provides admission in the following categories:

Apart from that, it provides admission to 15% of seats under the Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category. For this quota, the applicant must be a citizen of a foreign country. According to the criteria, non-resident Indians (NRIs) who have Indian citizenship are not eligible to apply under this quota. If your nephew is also a US citizen, then he can apply for this quota. As an Indian citizen, your nephew can apply under the general quota for B. Des., provided he has passed or is appearing in Class 12 in the academic year 2021-22.
