The selection process is simple, you give JEE and then sit in the counselling for the Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institute but the data about cutoff is not much clear on any website, you can check answers on Shiksha from the students already studying there, and that would give you a rough idea of Cutoffs or you can reach the institute through their contact us section and enquire them yourself about the criteria and cutoff I hope they will help you. You can also contact students studying in the college through LinkedIn and ask them about the same
Thank you

That depends on what you are comparing it to . But surely it is one of the best colleges in chennai considering the variety in the courses it offers. there are other good colleges like VIT Chennai and ofcourse IIT Madras but they are not in main city and also only offers a handful of streams in courses which are B.Tech and Buisness. but Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute provides many sorts of courses including MBBS BA etc.
Thank You.

B.Tech in CSE has better placement at Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute than ECE for obvious reasons, because even though the ECE branch has been on a rise in last few years computer skills are still the most demanded skills in the industry. So, if you are getting both branches you should try to get into CSE unless you have some interest in ECE other than placement.

The placements are comparable and since there is no data for last 2 years of placement statistics for MCE its hard to say. But overall Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute does provides somewhat better placements than the later. The former has many infrastructural benfits and last year Google also arrived into Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute which is rare for a college on that scale. So, Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute is on a upward track when it comes to placements.
