With a TNEA rank of 12,648 and a cutoff of 174 for Civil Engineering at Thiagarajar College of Engineering, your chances are very low.

  • The cutoff rank is much better (lower) than your rank.

  • You may not get Civil Engineering in this college through counselling.

  • Consider other branches or other colleges with higher cutoff ranks as backup options.

In GATE Civil Engineering counselling, seat allocation priority is: Institute preference → Category/reservation → GATE score → Branch preference → Counselling round. Fill choices carefully, as allotment depends mainly on score, rank, and reservation.

With a JEE Main 2023 AIR of 110,428, chances for top NITs or IIITs are very low. You can aim for:

  • Lower-tier NITs – Some CSE/IT seats in later rounds.

  • GFTIs (Government-Funded Technical Institutes) – CSE, ECE, or EE branches may be available.

  • State engineering colleges via JoSAA – Seats in reserved/state quota likely.

  • Other branches like ECE, EE, Mechanical, Civil as backup options

With a JEE Main rank of 75,166, top NITs/IIITs for CSE/IT are unlikely. Consider lower-tier NITs, non-premier IIITs, GFTIs, and state engineering colleges. Include ECE/EE/IT-related branches as backup in your JoSAA choices.
