Yes, you can apply to DRDO after taking the GATE in Biotechnology, as long as DRDO posts recruitment notifications that accept GATE-BT scores. DRDO usually hires scientists through the Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC). For positions like Scientist 'B', a valid GATE score is often needed. However, not all fields are accepted each year, and eligibility varies by the recruitment cycle. If biotechnology appears among the accepted subjects, you can apply. Therefore, it's important to regularly check the official RAC DRDO website and stay informed about their the latest notifications to see if your GATE paper is eligible that year.

- Top NITs like Trichy/Warangal unlikely for core branches at CRL 32,561.
- Possible NIT options: newer campuses or less popular branches (e.g., Civil, Metallurgy).
- Newer IIITs (Agartala, Manipur, Kalyani, Kottayam, Guwahati, Kota) often admit in 30–40k rank range.
- GFTIs (Assam University, IIEST Shibpur, BIT Mesra) are strong alternatives.
- Use JoSAA + CSAB counseling to maximize seat options.
- Consider non-core branches if targeting reputed NITs.
- Explore state-level engineering colleges for more choices.
- Keep location, branch interest, and placement stats in mind while finalizing options.

Rank between 25000 and 50000 still offer opportunities to get into good college but choices of branch might be limited.
Rank above 50000 may lead to admission in state-level or private institutions.
