No, you generally don't have to take the JEE for admission to design colleges. JEE is mainly for engineering and architecture programs, design colleges typically use their own entrance exams or they may consider scores from national-level design entrance exams. Common design entrance exams include NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology), NID (National Institute of Design), UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design), and CEED (Common Entrance Exam for Design). You can start your preparation for these exams early.

For JEE Main 2025 Session 2, the qualifying percentile cutoffs (needed to be eligible for JEE Advanced) are approximately:
- General (UR): 93.10 percentile
- EWS: 80.38 percentile
- OBC? NCL: 79.43 percentile
- SC: 61.15 percentile
- ST: 47.90 percentile
These are the minimum marks required to be eligible for JEE ADVANCED. Actual admission (JoSAA) cutoffs for NITs, IITs, etc., depend on branch and category—they're typically much higher (e.g., top CSE at NITs needs ~95+ percentile).

There are around 440 colleges for Production Engineering in India, out of which 110 colleges accept the GATE exam scores for giving admission to the M.Tech Production Engineering course. Since the GATE exam is the top national-level entrance exam for PG courses, there is intense competition for seats at top colleges, and hence you need to work extra hard to get excellent marks and rank to grab a seat for the course.

As an All India Quota (AIQ) student aiming for Maharashtra engineering colleges, you do not need to take MHT CET. You can directly participate in the MHT CET counselling process (CAP rounds) using your JEE Main score. You'll need to register specifically for the MHT CET counselling, which is conducted by the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell. This registration typically involves filling personal/academic details, uploading documents including your JEE Main scorecard, and paying a counselling fee. You do not need to register for the MHT CET exam itself.
