Hello Nikhil,
With the marks you obtained in JEE Mains, you have no chance of getting admission in any of the NITs. However, if you have appeared for MHTCET then perhaps there are some chances of getting admission in Maharashtra.

Hello Anjali,
For admissions in engineering colleges in Maharashtra, you have to appear for MHTCET but normally seats are reserved only for domiciles of Maharashtra. However, you can get admission from management quota of private colleges.

Ideally preparation for GATE entrance examination should begin from the third year of engineering. But, it need focus right from the second year of engineering. GATE focuses on the basics of all the subjects that you have learnt in engineering. So, if you understand the concepts taught in engineering from the second year on wards, then you have a upper hand. I will suggest you to take TOEFL or IELTS and score minimum up to 90 marks out of 120 marks. Take SAT or ACT exam as well as two SAT subject tests : one in mathematics (level 1 or 2) and the other one in science (physics, chemistry or biology).
Here, note that some universities don't accept IELTS so I will prefer TOEFL.

You need to completed class 12 with 60% (PCM) for B.Tech computer science. Through your NIOS class 12th certificate, you can apply for Amity School of Engineering, which is affiliated to CBSEJEE.
