If you've changed the name recently but your marksheet has the old name, then you can submit an affidavit for the same. Also, one must provide a valid reason for it. You can also contact your GATE zone helpcentre to assist. 

You can also contact your respective board and submit an application request for a name change along with the required documents. Once the board approves, a new board marksheet will be issued to you.

No, OBC-NCL certificate is not required during the GATE 2026 form filling process. However, the certificate will be required at the time of admission process/counselling.

Yes, IIT Guwahati has activated the GATE 2026 application form link on the official website. The application form was released on August 28. The last date to submit the form is September 28 (without late fees) and October 9 (with late fees).

No, a bonafide certificate is not required while filling the GATE application form. However, candidates must keep their bonafide ready, as it will be needed at the time of counselling and in the admission process. The required documents for GATE 2026 registration include -

  • GATE photo and signature and,  
  • Scanned valid photo ID

Yes, you don't have to buy specific books seperately for SRMJEEE preparations. You can refer to your 10+2 NCERT books from classes 10 to 12. However, you can purchase practice papers for solve past year question papers and strengthen your preparations.

Candidates can choose upto three exam cities/centers while filling the GATE 2026 application form. The exam city preference must be from the same zone itself. This year, the GATE 2026 exam is being conducted in more than 200 cities across eight zones.

Firstly, go through the syllabus and keep notes attached to it. Then create a study plan and refer to quality study material like recommended textbooks make consice notes for revision. Practice regularly solve mock tests, previous year papers and solve its problems.

BONUS: Don't use your phone when you are preparing for the exam. If you're studying then keep your phone silent and stay away from unnessecary distractions.

The GATE exam (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is conducted for 30 test papers. The GATE papers are defined by the specific paper codes which is mentioned in the GATE 2026 information brochure, as well as in the application form. Candidates must check the paper codes and include them properly.
