Dear reader,

As a leading government-aided university, Madras Institute of Technology offers a heavily discounted fee structure for its B.Tech degrees. Lovely Professional University (LPU) stands out despite its great value by providing merit-based scholarships that make its top-notch ECE infrastructure and international business partnerships remarkably accessible to high-achieving students.

Mechanical Engineering was among the easier branches, with an initial Round 1 closing rank of 108,867. The final cutoff was 251,507. If you compare to CSE or Aeronautical Engineering, it provides a much broader rank cushion.

Round 1 closing rank in Aeronautical Engineering was 56,940 in 2025. By the final round, the closing rank was 97,687. It suggests that, though easier than Computer Science and Engineering, Aeronautical engineering is a popular specialised course.

A straight answer: if your goal is less academic load + decent career options, then among CSE, ECE, EE, the usual reality is:

  • CSE (Computer Science)the lightest relative load (more logic + coding, less hardcore physics/math hardware)
  • ECE (Electronics & Communication) → Medium load (mix of coding + electronics, can get tough)
  • EE (Electrical Engineering)the heaviest load (core physics, circuits, math-heavy, more demanding)
