Candidates are given free choice to choose the GATE papers, however candidates should choose the papers which align with the qualifying degree. E.g; If a candidate have done B.Tech. in Civil Engineering he/she should choose CE GATE paper.

Candidates are advised to rectify the mistake if any are found in the documents.  If a candidate fills in the GATE application form with mismatched details such as name, date of birth, etc. his/her application form will show DEFECTIVE after submitting the application form. The application form also stands a chance of getting rejected altogether. So, candidates must keep in mind that their details in all the documents are properly matched, if not please make sure to get them modified before the GATE 2026 application form.
