Yes, you can obtain a UG Diploma with a 66% percentage in class 12 at the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) in Imphal. All the institute asks for in order to admit students to the UG Diploma courses is a minimum passing percentage. A range of short- and long-term courses in information technology and electronics and communication engineering are available at NIELIT Imphal. The completion of the 12th grade, or its equivalent, from any accredited school or board is a prerequisite for the UG Diploma. As a result, you are qualified to apply for the UG Diploma with a class 12 percentage of 66%.

Depending on the course, different requirements may apply for the UG Diploma programme at the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology, Ropar. For general candidates, this institution's minimum cut-off ranges from 75%-87%. there is, nevertheless, a small exception to the cut-off for the students in the reserved category. 

Conversely, applicants seeking Diploma programs need to have finished their 12th grade from CBSE, ICSE, or state board.

IIT Ropar's B.Tech eligibility criteria are as follows: 

  • Candidates must have achieved a minimum of 75% overall in class 12 (or similar) board exams. Maths, Physics, and Chemistry are mandatory subjects for the board examination.  

Note: 65% for the candidates of PwD, ST/SC. 

OR

  • With Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as required subjects, candidates must be in the top 20 percentile of their respective class 12 (or similar) board examination.
  • For admission to both B.Tech and B.Tech+M.Tech programmes, candidates must be JEE qualified.

It's better to take admission in any UG college than to drop out for a year. Based on your score, if you just miss getting into the top IITs or NITs, I suggest you work hard for one more year. However, this does not happen for most students; only around 5-10% are successful. There are many top private institutions that are far better than some of the NITs, such as BITS, VIT, MIT, and others.
