ETH Zurich advises students to beware of fraud offering cheap apartments in attractive locations. Landlords may pretend to be overseas and unable to show the apartment in person and then ask for a deposit transfer in advance. Its recommended to always visit the place physically before seeing a room and contact the university if anything seems fishy.
