The MAH MBA CET cutoff is calculated based on your percentile score, not raw marks. Your raw score is normalized across exam sessions to account for difficulty variations, then converted into a percentile that shows how you rank among all test-takers. The Centralized Admission Process (CAP) uses these percentiles to prepare merit lists and allot seats in MBA/MMS colleges in Maharashtra.
How the Cutoff is Calculated
Raw Score
- Total marks obtained in all four sections (Logical Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Ability).
- Maximum marks: 200.
Normalization Process

At 86.56 percentile in JEE Main as an OBC-NCL female candidate, you have realistic chances of admission into mid-tier NITs (for non-CSE branches), several IIITs, and strong state government engineering colleges like HBTU Kanpur, MMMUT Gorakhpur, and KNIT Sultanpur. Your category and gender advantage improves your odds compared to general candidates.
Likely College Options at 86.56%ile (OBC-NCL, Female)
| College Type | Examples | Branches Possible | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| NITs (Tier II/III) | NIT Agartala, NIT Hamirpur, NIT Raipur, NIT Jalandhar | Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, ECE | CSE/IT usually closes above 95%ile; but OBC female quota improves chances in non-CSE branches. |
| IIITs (Lower Tier) | IIITDM Kurnool, IIIT Agartala, IIIT Kottayam, IIIT Manipur | ECE, Mechanical, IT | Admission possible in newer IIITs; CSE may be tight but IT/ECE realistic. |
| State Govt. Colleges (UP) | HBTU Kanpur, MMMUT Gorakhpur, KNIT Sultanpur, BIET Jhansi | Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, some IT | Strong placement in core branches; fees affordable (₹85k–₹2.4 lakh). |
| GFTIs (Govt. Funded Technical Institutes) | BIT Mesra (non-CSE branches), Assam University, SLIET Longowal | Civil, Mechanical, Production | Relaxed cutoffs; good backup options. |
Cutoff Insights
- OBC-NCL cutoff for JEE Main 2026: ~80–82 percentile. You are above cutoff, so eligible for JEE Advanced and JoSAA counseling.
- Female quota advantage: Many NITs/IIITs reserve seats for female candidates, lo

With a JEE Main CRL rank of ~79,364 and an EWS category rank of ~11,884, you have a realistic chance of securing CSE in several mid-tier NITs, newer IIITs, and some GFTIs. Top NITs (Trichy, Surathkal, Warangal, Allahabad) are out of reach, but options like NIT Jalandhar, NIT Hamirpur, IIIT Kota, IIIT Nagpur, and GFTIs such as Gurukul Kangri Haridwar are possible.
Likely Colleges for CSE (Based on 2025 Cutoffs)
| Institute Type | College Name | CSE Closing Rank (EWS) | Your Chances |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mid-tier NITs | NIT Jalandhar, NIT Hamirpur, NIT Raipur | ~10,000–13,000 | ✅ Possible |
| Newer NITs | NIT Uttarakhand, NIT Arunachal, NIT Meghalaya | ~12,000–15,000 | ✅ Strong |
| IIITs | IIIT Kota, IIIT Nagpur, IIIT Bhagalpur | ~11,000–14,000 | ✅ Strong |
| GFTIs | Gurukul Kangri Haridwar, Assam University, Mizoram University | ~15,000–18,000 | ✅ Very likely |
| Top NITs | NIT Trichy, Surathkal, Warangal, Allahabad | ~2,000–5,000 | ❌ Not possible |
Key Insights
- EWS Rank (11,884): This is the deciding factor. Many mid-tier NITs and IIITs close around 12k–15k for CSE.
- CRL Rank (79,364): Too high for General category seats, but EWS quota gives you leverage.
