Hope you and your son are doing well. You can appear for the BITSAT examination after 12th and JEE Mains examination. You need to apply for BITSAT examination and then in the month of May or June, BITSAT exam is conducted.

Category final cut-off score are:-
1. General 51.9
2. NC-OBC 45.5
3. SC 35.0
4. ST 24.3
5. DA 29.9.

So, to answer your question, theoretically, you can convert IRMA with 80% if you meet the rest of the parameters (at least 4 of them including GD and PI). But, practically it is a daunting task to convert IRMA with such a low percentile if you do not have an extraordinary profile.
