If you have passed class 12 then:
You could take up certificate courses (6 months-1 year), diploma (1 year-2 years) or degree programme (3 years-5 years). Degree programmes might require you to take entrance exams of respective universities and prepare a portfolio.

Yes, it is good option as, nowadays, people are more focused on their clothes. Every day we are coming up with new trends in the fashion industry. It totally depends on your interest, how much you can adopt this skills and work on it. You have to be more focused , hard working and have ability to adopt things very fast.
