Food Technology

NIFTM does not offers the M.Sc. (Food Technology) programme. However NIFTEM offers the following PG programs as under.
1. M.Tech in Food Technology and Management (FTM)
2. M.Tech in Food Processing Engineering and Management (FPEM)
3. M.Tech in Food Plant Operations and Management (FPOM)
4. M.Tech in Food Safety and Quality Management (FSQM)
5. M.Tech in Food Supply Chain Management (FSCM)
The admission in above M.Tech programs are done through the GATE score+Personal interview, However if seats remains vacant after GATE admission the common entrance exam will be conducted among the Non-GATE candidates. I would suggest it would be IIT, Kharagpur the primary years in IIT encompasses both agricultural and food engineering. So, moving on the other renowned options will be NIFTEM, Haryana as it gives you a lot of options for the graduate studies in food technology and bifurcations like process engineering, safety and quality etc. As well as prepares you for industrial exposure. However, another set up by MOFPI (Ministry of food processing industries) is IICPT, Thanjavur. Some of outstanding institute in food technology which ranks in top 10 engineering colleges include (UDCT), Mumbai ; HBTI, Kanpur (here the food technology is under chemical engineering dept) ; Jadavpur University, Kolkata (the degree is a synergy of Food Technology & biochemical engineering). Now if someone is eyeing for higher education or a PG degree apart from the above mentioned institute CFTRI, Mysore; NDRI, Karnal & IARI, Pusa new Delhi are some of the gems in field of food processing but all of these give you a http://M.Scdegree. However NDRI awards an M.Tech degree in dairy and food engineering. Now coming on the agriculture colleges which are governed by ICAR ( Indian Council of Agricultural Research), some of the agricultural college are also eminent in the field. These include SHIATS (Allahabad agriculture university, Allahabad; G. B Pant Agricultural university, Pantnagar ; Anand Agricultural university, Gujarat; College of Agricultural engineering, pravahini, Maharashtra etc. Some of the good private university which gives the option of under graduate and post graduate studies are Karunya University, Coimbatore ; SRM University, Chennai; Amity University, Noida; AKS University, Satna; LPU, Ludhiana.
