No, in fact a Candidate should note that if he or she is not sure about an answer to a question, they should surely try to avoid that question since there is a negative marking in the GATE examination. It is not mandatory to solve all the 65 questions and one must be totally sure while answering a question and not rely on the luck of guessing.

The GATE Cut Offs for 2024 have already been released by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. However, to check the GATE 2025 cutoff marks, candidates have to follow the steps mentioned below -
- Visit the official GATE website.
- Look for a section titled "Results" or "GATE 2025 Cut-offs".
- You might find separate links for downloading the cut-offs for different categories (e.g., General, OBC, SC/ST etc.) or for different streams (e.g., CS, ME, EE etc.).

IIT Kanpur accepts GATE scores for admission to the M.Tech course. As per the GATE COAP round 1 cutoff, the most competitive course was Microelectronics and VLSI with a closing rank of 935 for the General AII India category students. So, to secure a seat in IIT Kanpur, candidates must secure more than 900 for General AI category.

GATE cutoff is considered for admission to NIT Durgapur M.Tech programme. Candidates need to score equal or above GATE cutoff for admission to M.Tech programme. Below is NIT Durgapur GATE cutoff of past three years:

The lowest GATE score accepted for admission to NIT Meghalaya would depend on the category, branch, and round. For the General AI category, the minimum score needed for Round 5 admission was 357 for the M.Tech. in VLSI and Embedded Systems. Students targeting the MTech CSE branch would need a score of at least 437 to be qualified for admission.
For the OBC AI category, the minimum score needed for MTech CSE is 385. Other branches, rounds, etc, will have different cutoffs accordingly.

NIT Srinagar accepts GATE score, followed by the CCMT Counselling process for M.Tech admission. NIT Srinagar GATE cutoff 2024 has been concluded. As per the NIT Srinagar 2024 cutoff, the last round closing rank for M.Tech in Mechanical System Design was 359 for the General All India category students.

Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology Bhopal accepts GATE score, followed by CCMT Counselling process for M.Tech admission. As per the NIT Bhopal cutoff 2023, the last round closing rank ranged between 351 and 472, among which Geotechnical Engineering and Biotechnology were the most competitive specialisations with a last round closing rank of 351. The Round 1 closing ranks for both these courses were 367 and 406, respectively for the General AI category students.
